Ateez & Solo Dance Covers

3rd Blogaversary Series Day 2

Before Ateez debuted as an idol group, they were already getting noticed for their dance skills, specifically through their KQ Fellaz dance series releases. Today we will be journeying through their dance covers as both a group and individually.

I also LOVE their dance breaks, but since this series is about covers, original solos, and OSTs, I am not including them. Please let me know if y'all would like me to compile them into a post to publish some time in the future.

KQ Fellaz

After a month of training in LA, KQ Fellaz released these three group and one solo dance covers to the world as a way to introduce themselves prior to debut.

Song: Pick it Up Performed by: KQ Fellaz Original artist: Famous Dex

Song: Lick Performed by: KQ Fellaz Original artist: Cardi B

Songs: Outlet & Day 'N' Nite Performed by: KQ Fellaz Original artists: Desiigner & Kid Cudi

Song: CoCo Performed by: Yunho Original artist: O.T. Genasis

Ateez

Ateez were given 24 hours to learn the first verse and chorus of a song of their choice (they picked Growl), and also choreograph the second verse. On top of that, they had to design all of the formations. They split into 3 groups: Yeosang, Wooyoung, & Jongho learned the original choreography and taught the group; Hongjoong, Yunho, & Mingi choreographed the second verse; and Seonghwa & San designed all of the formations. It is amazing what they can do in 24 hours.

Song: Growl Performed by: Ateez Original artist: EXO

Songs: Sicko Mode, One Time Comin, & Pick It Up Performed by: Ateez

Original artists: Travis Scott, YG, & Famous Dex

There are actually a few versions of these dance covers. If you want to see a fan cam from the front row of the 2019 KCon Wrap Party, watch this one:

Original artists: Travis Scott & YG

Here it is from the Milan stop on Ateez's Exhibition Tour. I can't embed the link so you will have to go to this YouTube link to view it.

Sub-Units

Now we are getting into sub-unit dance covers. From what I can gather, this video has San and Wooyoung up against Yunho and Mingi covering dances from three different groups with San and Wooyoung showing the sexy side of the group and Yunho and Mingi showing the powerful side.

Song: Fake Love Performed by: San & Wooyoung Original artist: BTS

Song: Idol Performed by: Yunho & Mingi Original artist: BTS

Song: Baby Don't Stop Performed by: San & Wooyoung Original artist: NCT

Song: Boss Performed by: Yunho & Mingi Original artist: NCT

Song: Energetic Performed by: San & Wooyoung Original artist: Wanna One

Song: Burn It Up Performed by: Yunho & Mingi Original artist: Wanna One

San

San was picked as the Ateez dance representative for the previews to Kingdom: Legendary War. Through that process he danced in a three-way battle with the Stray Kids and The Boyz representatives and in a Performance Film. These songs are instrumental so I am not sure if they are covers or not, but they are dances so I am adding them in.

Song: Triangular Fight Performed by: Hyunjin, San, & Juyeon Original artist: ??

Song: Performance Film Original artist: ??

Performed by: Juyeon, Lee Know, San, Lee Minhyuk, Yoo Teayang, & DK

Ateez picking San as the Ateez dance representative was such a big deal because San was originally one of the, if not, the worst dancers during their training period (mainly based on the fact that he had zero dance experience) and he joined the group as a vocalist. He worked SO hard and is now one of Ateez's main dancers and a performance icon for other trainees and idols. This next cover shows how far he has come as a dancer.

Song: Warriors Performed by: San Original artist: Imagine Dragons

Wooyoung

Wooyoung was, I think, the first 4th generation boy group member to be named to Studio Choom's Artist of the Month. He was also the only person, to my knowledge, to ever be asked to perform his Artist of the Month performance live. I have linked both videos below.

Song: Bad Performed by: Wooyoung Original artist: Christopher

Wooyoung was also asked to perform in the opening performance of the 2021 MAMA Awards as part of a group of mini solos. I'm sorry, I have no idea what the song he is performing to is and who it is by. When I Shazamed it, I got, "Opening(Live)" with the artists performing in this opening performances as the artists on the song.

Song: Opening (Live) Performed by: Wooyoung Original artist: ??

Wooyoung was also the first artist featured in Watcha's show, Fill In the Next Blank. He ended his episode with this performance set to Logic's song with the Suicide Hotline number as its title. A commenter on the video, @ウヨン-n1z, said, "...Wooyoung said that he doesn't want high views or attention, he only wants people to come to watch this video whenever they are having a hard time, that's why he chose such a meaningful song like this instead of a simple sexy concept that can get him tons of views. He said that people usually listen to music when they are going through a hard time, so he wants his dancing and choreography to be a safe place and comfort us just like when we listen to our favorite songs..." 😭 Yep. We stan the right group.

Song: 1-800-273-8255 Performed by: Wooyoung Original artist: Logic

Yunho

Six years after Yunho's KQ Fellaz solo, we FINALLY got another Yunho solo! This time performed at the SBS Gayo Daejeon music festival. Welcome back to dance solos, Yunho! Please don't make us wait another 6 years for your next one.

Song: Steps to Oz Performed by: Yunho Original artist: ??

BONUS: Mayfly

In Kingdom: Legendary War, there was a two episode arc where the 6 groups were split into 2 groups of 3, subdivided into Rap, Dance, and Vocal, and then set up to compete in those sub groups. Since Ateez won the idol vote the week prior to these episodes, they got to pick which two groups they wanted to team up with. Ateez chose BtoB and Stray Kids and they collectively decided to call themselves Mayfly. This is the dance cover from Mayfly (they won their battle by the way).

Song: Wolf Performed by: Mayfly Original artist: EXO

Those are all of the dance covers, I think, for Ateez as of March 2025. I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you tomorrow for Ateez Group Covers.
